Shekinah Chan, Therapist-in-Training

Shekinah joins us with her experience from Kids’ Help Phone. She brings her curiosity to each session and provides a safe environment to be open, honest, and seen around your feelings. Shekinah meets you where you are at as you learn more about yourself and explore what it means to heal and grow.

She believes that therapy will be a place where clients can be honest with themselves and a safe place to experience emotions. Her approach to therapy aims to build a connection with her clients that allows them to process feelings like grief and trauma in a safe and compassionate way. She is interested in exploring loss and the pain that can come with even the smallest of changes.

Before enrolling in Tyndale University for the Counselling Program, she was a student at McMaster University in the Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour Program (specializing in Mental Health). During her time there, she learned the fundamentals of mental health and the intricacies of the mind.

During her downtime, she enjoys spending time with friends by playing video games, listening to music (particularly musicals), drawing, and finding new ways to keep her dog, Nala, entertained.
